Fountain University Wins 2025 Osun NIPR PR Challenge
Fountain University, Osogbo, has emerged the winner of the third edition of the Osun Public Relations (PR) Challenge, an annual pitching competition organised by the Osun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Kings University, Ode-Omu, came second, while Osun State University, Ikire Campus, secured third place.
Held at the SEAP Hall of Redeemer’s University in Ede, the event featured strategic campaign presentations focused on the theme: *“Repositioning and Rebranding Nigerian Machine Tools to Regain National Prominence.”* Launched in 2023, the competition bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world PR practice by challenging students to design effective communication campaigns.
Although nine universities initially expressed interest, only three made it to the final stage. Each team demonstrated creativity, strategic depth, and strong communication skills.
Fountain University stood out with a bilingual campaign incorporating both Yoruba and English, which emphasized cultural relevance, community storytelling, influencer engagement, and emotionally resonant messaging. Their innovative approach earned them top marks for creativity and audience connection.
Osun State University’s campaign impressed judges with its advanced use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for audience analysis, content development, and campaign optimization, reflecting a forward-looking grasp of PR tools and techniques.
In his address, Mr. Ademola Adesoji, Chairman of NIPR Osun Chapter, underscored the importance of experiential learning and noted that the challenge plays a crucial role in preparing students for industry realities.
Dr. Rasheed Adebiyi, a lecturer in Fountain University’s Mass Communication Department, applauded the students’ dedication and emphasized the value of inter-university competitions in nurturing Nigeria’s next generation of PR professionals.
