APRA 2020: African Public Relations Conference Calls for Submission of Abstract

Introduction

The African Public Relations Association (APRA) will be having its annual conference in Dares Salaam, Tanzania May 11-15 with the theme ‘One Africa! March to Economic Integration & The Role of Public Relations’.

Based on this, the sub-theme for the conference has been identified as ‘Trust and Public Relations’. Potential speakers are to choose areas in which they may wish to make in-depth presentations. Of course, the sub-themes are general guides and relevant variants that illuminate the key message in the theme would be considered.

This year’s conference will be exploring the opportunities for public relations and the roles public relations can play in the economic integration of Africa especially with regards to the recently unveiled African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Presenters/Speakers are expected to discuss issues of trust in public relations, strategic positioning, ethical practices, alternative facts, crisis and issues management, reputation management, security awareness, competitiveness, social responsibility, self-regulation and a heightened focus on global governance initiatives.

You may wish to consider any of the listed subject areas for your presentation as many of our members are regularly confronted with such issues in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.

The list is not exhaustive, and other suggestions within the context of some of the sub-themes below will be considered:

Members are hereby invited to choose topics that best suit their areas of specialization as well as to nominate speakers for the above sub-themes based on the stated guidelines below;

Guidelines
Potential speakers are expected to submit an abstract of not more than 250 words not later than January 31, 2020.
Abstracts will be assessed after the closing date and notifications will be sent to selected speakers on February 29, 2020.
Actual presentations should be submitted within four weeks of notification of selection, latest March 31,2020.
The paper/presentation in PowerPoint must clearly reflect the issues, challenges, public relations techniques or trends engaged and the results achieved. The use of videos, sound bites and infographics is encouraged to aid audience engagement.
All submissions are to be accompanied by a brief profile of 100 words and head shot of the speaker

1. APRA Tanzania Comes Up on May 11, 2020

Early bird registration is still on for APRA Tanzania 2020 @ 750USD. Interested persons should kindly contact the APRA Secretariat or Coordinator for details on Invitation Letters. Early bird registration closes January 31, 2020.

Please note that invoices raised for early bird registration rate will not be accepted for payment from February 01, 2020 as regular rate of 950USD will be applied to accept the payment. The early bird rate of 750USD and regular rate of 950USD are not inclusive of the Tour Fee, Tour Fee is 200USD per participant.
