The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, (NIPR) Kwara State Chapter has congratulated the newly elected and inaugurated Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Councilors in the State.
The chapter called the development a timely catalyst for an increased delivery of public goods to the larger grassroots populace of the state.
A statement signed by the chairman, Gabriel Ogunade and Secretary, Abdulrahman Sanni commended the rejuvenation of the third tier of governance in Kwara State through popular elections by the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
He noted that many progressive states in the country have largely enabled notable development through an agile constitutional and creative local government system administration.
The statement read in part: “We cheer with the good people of the state of harmony and congratulate the Executive Governor who is a distinguished National Honoree of our reputable NIPR Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance, for once again showing class by effecting the requirement of the law in the conduct of the elections and the immediate inauguration of the elected officials into action.
“This signals the posture to work required and expected of the new councils. We are quick to remind the honorable elected officials of the increasing citizen awareness and intelligence requiring strategic engagement and management.
“The institute urged the officers and their teams to embrace a healthy competitive approach to the development of their respective councils. This should be backed by the use of professionals, especially in public relations, for the crafting and implementation of their developmental programs to confer advantage and position them for excellence in the delivery of good governance. Good governance is the end that politics and its activities intend to serve.
“The recent affirmation of the autonomy of the LG Councils by the Supreme Court is in sync with earlier pronouncements of the State Government, this has afforded a level playing field for all Councils to rebuild, enhance and reposition their brands in an enduring manner through strategic service.
“As perception managers, committed to the values of professionalism and excellence, NIPR in the state, by the inauguration of the new local government councils, has activated its special structures to monitor, measure, give feedback, and report on the performance based public perception rating of the 16 LGAs to be periodically released on some specific indicators.
“We celebrate the robustness of politics and the new wave of development prospects by this electoral process and heartily wish the newly inaugurated executives a remarkable tenure in office.”
