NIPR @60: Enugu Chapter Walks for Greener, Prosperous Nigeria
Defying the rain, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Enugu State Chapter marked its Diamond Jubilee with a vibrant “Walk for Economic Transformation and Green Nigeria Initiative.” This event, celebrating NIPR’s 60th anniversary, saw participants unite for national unity, development, and environmental sustainability.
The celebratory walk, starting at Michael Okpara Square, was filled with traditional music and cultural performances, showcasing the resilience and enthusiasm of the participants despite the early morning showers. As part of the Green Nigeria Initiative, 60 trees were planted around the Government House, symbolizing a commitment to environmental stewardship.
Faustinus Ilo, PhD, Chairman of NIPR Enugu State, emphasized the significance of the Diamond Jubilee and the Green Nigeria initiative in his opening remarks, while the Enugu State government, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Prof. Sam Ugwu, highlighted the importance of tree planting and the fight against climate change.
The event concluded with fruitful networking opportunities and closing remarks by Ihuoma Philips-Daniel, Chairman of the Planning Committee, leaving participants inspired and united in their mission. Stakeholders present included government officials, environmental agencies, security forces, the media, and students.
