Edo Govt Partners NIPR to Boost Public Image, Capacity Building
The Edo State Government has announced its commitment to collaborate with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to promote a positive public image and enhance the skills of its public relations practitioners.
This partnership aims to contribute to the development of a greater Edo State.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, made this pledge during the NIPR’s 60th Anniversary Diamond Road Walk and Tree Planting ceremony in Benin, Edo State, on Saturday.
Represented by Director of Communication, Daniel Odion, Nehikhare congratulated the institute on its milestone anniversary and reiterated the importance of public relations in nation-building.
He said, “I must rejoice with the institute on this momentous occasion and pledged to partner with the NIPR for a greater Edo State.
“Public Relations practitioners have a crucial role to play in nation-building and that is why I said earlier that we are partnering with them for a greater Edo State.
“Turning 60 is not a mean feat and I must commend the founding fathers of the institute and also enjoin the current members to keep the flag flying,” he added.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Edo State Chapter of the NIPR, Wisdom Abhulimen, said the state Exco has achieved remarkable milestones, including capacity-building programmes, community engagement initiatives, and advocacy of professional excellence among other programmes
He added, “Our ongoing programmes aim to impact on the practice of the profession and the state. I commend our members for their dedication and hard work. I also congratulate our partners and stakeholders for their unflinching support.
“As we celebrate our institute’s diamond jubilee, we request collaboration between the Edo State Government and the NIPR to advance the progress and development of our state.
“We seek to work together in vital areas such as public image, perception and reputation management of the state government, training and capacity development of PR and information officers within the state civil service. Together, we can achieve greater heights and further enhance the reputation of our state and nation” he said.
