NOA, NIPR Collaborate to Promote National Values, Ethics
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) have agreed to partner on promoting national values, unity and respect that uphold the ethical principles of every Nigerian from various parts of the country.
The Director-General of the agency, Lanre Onilu disclosed this on Wednesday when he received the President of the institute, Dr. Ike Neliaku, and other officials at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the visit, Onilu said the citizen brigade will help young people to understand the essence of being Nigerians.
“The quest for a national value charter is an attempt to build a consensus of what constitute Nigeria’s national ethics which will guide national aspiration,” he said.
“Orientation is a journey and you cannot begin a journey until you know where you are going to. So the first thing to do is to define our destination before we start the journey of orientation.
“When we draw up this charter, we can comfortably say that we are orientating our people towards achieving the values we already set for ourselves.”
He said the agency is also planning to endorse the return of nationalism studies in schools, adding that “it is as important as English and Mathematics”.
In his remarks, Neliaku solicited the support of NOA to achieve all NIPR programmes for the year.
