The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has expressed its desire to partner with the award-winning Public Relations outfit, Image Merchants Promotion Ltd (IMPR), for the purpose of hosting National Spokespersons Summit and Awards
IMPR, the publisher of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, Spokespersons’ Digest and other titles, hosts the popular Spokespersons’ Communication Awards (SCA) on an annual basis.
The National President of NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, made this offer when he led a delegation of the Institute to the PRNigeria Centre in the city on Saturday.
The facility visit is coming barely 24 hours after Dr Neliaku inaugurated the new executives of the Kano chapter of NIPR.
This conversation on partnership is also coming ahead of this year’s edition of the SCA.
He added that IMPR board chairman and PR guru, Dr Sule Ya’u Sule, will chair the planning committee of the NIPR proposed Workshop.
“As we plan the hosting of the workshop, we have assigned Dr. Sule Yau Sule, a veteran spokesperson to governors, ministers and Senators, to chair the Planning Committee.
“On the request of IMPR for partnership on its annual Spokespersons’ Communication Awards, we hope the forthcoming National Spokespersons Summit that has been approved by the Minister of Information and National Orientation will also be a better platform to showcase and celebrate outstanding public relations campaigns by groups and individuals,” he said.
He also eulogised the IMPR Managing Director, Mallam Yushau Shuaib for grooming and mentoring young talents in journalism and PR professions.
“Let me congratulate Mallam Yushau Shuaib, a multi-talented PR practitioner who I have known for more than two decades for the mentorship of young journalists and communicators.
“The Image Merchants Promotion Ltd publishers of PRNigeria and Spokespersons Digest has been one of our ambassadors in using PRNigeria Centres in Abuja and Kano for teaching, mentoring and grooming young communication on stakeholder engagement, business entrepreneurship and digital economy.
“When I came into office as NIPR President, I insisted we must empower and relate very well with our chapters
“While we want to empower the chapters, we must also ensure that PR practitioners suceed, enrich and bless,” he added.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Yushau A. Shuaib commended the President and his entourages for the visit to PRNigeria Centre in Kano.
He told the guests that the most of the staff of Image Merchants are certified public relations practitioners.
“Mr President sir, we are highly honoured by this visit to the first Public relations agency after your well deserved election’s victory.
“As you may be aware, 90% of our staff are not only jpurnalists or communicators, they are certified members of NIPR.
“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we provide mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate communication students in both Abuja and Kano Centres of PRNigeria
“We will continue to support NIPR in all its activities as the regulatory body for PR practice in Nigeria
“While thanking your predecessor, Alhaji Mukhtar Sirajo for his supports to our programmes, we humbly seek your further endorsements for our events.”
In his entourage were his predecessor, Alhaji Mukhtar Sirajo, Dr Sule Ya’u Sule and other bigwigs of the PR profession.
During the visit books authored by PRNigeria staff were also presented to the guests.
