Nigeria’s Image: NIPR’s Summit Report Advocates Reputation Management Body
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in collaboration with 93 state and non-state actors, has call for establishment of the National Reputation Management Group (NRMG), aimed at strategically shaping and boosting Nigeria’s international reputation.
The recommendation was made in a comprehensive 165-page report document presented on Tuesday by the Institute during the unveiling of it’s Citizens Summit Report title: ‘Rebooting Nigeria 2.0′.
The report also proposing an innovative 1% Reputation Management Tax on companies’ profits as a means to sustain the NRMG’s activities.
During the presentation, Mal. Mukhtar Sirajo, National President of NIPR, also tasked citizens to join forces with governments to build a strong, united and prosperous Nigeria.
According to Sirajo, the journey of the summit started in 2021 with Zonal Dialogue Series held across the six (6) geo-political zones of the country to offer an opportunity for expanded participation by Nigerians in the different parts of the country.
He said: “The process culminated in a grand finale that took place between 23rd – 25th August, 2022 at the International Conference Centre, here in Abuja. It is our hope that all concerned will muster the needed courage, will and resources to ensure that the recommendations of this report are translated into concrete actions.
“It is also our hope that as the new administration in the country settles down with the business of governance, it will find this report useful, especially in policy formulation in the areas that the summit deliberated upon and made recommendations accordingly.
On his part, the Chairman, Report Writing committee, Prof. Andrew Haruna noted that the report covers a wide range of issues surrounding the historical, economic, political, and social development of Nigeria to the present day.
According to him, “It examines and observed various challenges arising from the issues and proffers informed solutions to them in the hope that if they are faithfully and conscientiously implemented, the solutions will refresh the atmosphere and aspirations of the totality of developmental strides of Nigeria going forward. We in Reboot Nigeria project are optimistic that a greater Nigeria is possible with this compendium of solutions.”
While narrating the highlight from the report, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura said the document was derives from understanding governance as a system driven by carefully designed operating programs similar to computer systems.
“Nigeria 1.0 has been affected by viruses created by vested interest within and outside the country, which deem nesaary for Nigeria to install Nigerian 2.0.”
Earlier, the Vice Chairman NIPR, who also chairs the committee, Ike Neilaku, said the report was handed to the 42-man committee came up with a viable strategy that resulted in building new citizens.
He said the report will reflect building new citizens that will build a new Nigeria that we all aspire to have.
