Pal-Dunamis Driving School Trains PRNigeria Staff on Causes of Road Crashes
Pal-Dunamis Driving School on Monday organised a one-day training session for members of staff of Image Merchants Promotion Ltd (IMPR), Publishers of PR-Nigeria, Economic Confidential and other titles.
The training, titled, “Common Causes of Road Crashes and Introduction of United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030,” was aimed at reducing deaths and injuries occurring from road crashes by 50 percent by the year 2030.
According to the Chief Instructor/CEO of the School, Lanre Balogun, the free training was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
“We focus on the need to educate the public, staff of institutions, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Common Causes of Road Crashes with emphasis on safety, regard for traffic laws and respect for other road users.
Mr Balogun emphasised the need for the journalists to get officially trained in a certified training school no matter how good they are in driving, adding that many Nigerians do not understand road signs and simple driving rules and this contributes largely to the countless accidents and avoidable deaths on the road.
He added that car owners must check the essentials in their vehicles before driving out, adding that many people do not know their car tyres have expiry dates after which they can cause havoc.
He added that car owners must study and understand the required weight for each of their tyres while getting vulcanizers to work on them.
He warned the participants against dangerous overtaking, drinking and driving, using phones while driving and fighting needlessly on the roads, adding that these contribute immensely to the 1.3 million annual accident deaths in Nigeria.
The trainer showed the participants visuals of the most dangerous accident scenes across the globe which are caused by the routine rules and road signs drivers take for granted.
