State Chairman of NIPR, Mrs Seun Boye, said that the true essence of Christmas is sacrifice, as exemplified by the death of Christ for the redemption of the souls of mankind on the cross of Calvary.
She said, “The sacrifice by our Lord Jesus Christ made the celebration of Christmas, which the world now celebrates with fanfare a reality, hence the need for mankind to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and love by engaging in sacrificial service to humanity which is pivotal.”
Boye also emphasised love for one another, saying the love Jesus Christ had for mankind made him pay the supreme sacrifice.
She said the Christmas season is also a season of giving, just as Christ gave his life for mankind, calling on the people to remember the less privileged as they celebrate.
“As we are all merry-making in the spirit of the season, we must remember the less privileged by lending a hand in line with the spirit of giving associated with the season,” Mrs. Boye submitted.
The chairman, therefore, charged all Nigerians, to make moderation their watchwords as only the living celebrate
