Nigeria Needs Leaders with Poverty Eradication Policy – NIPR Chairman
The national president and chairman of council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Mallam Mukhtar Sirajo, has said Nigeria needs leaders that can come up with policies to eradicate poverty.
Mukhtar stated this on Thursday, at the Lagos public relations stakeholders’ conference in Lagos.
He spoke on the theme, “Conversations on Leadership and Poverty Eradication” alongside other notable speakers in Nigeria.
The NIPR president explained that poverty is critical to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and it starts from childhood.
Also speaking at the event, the executive vice chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Professor Umar Dambatta, said Nigeria must explore opportunities of the digital economy to ameliorate poverty.
Dambatta explained that there is traditional poverty, which is the general scarcity of certain materials and digital poverty which is the lack of access to information.
He, however, noted that Nigeria is not enjoying a digital economy due to inadequate telecoms infrastructure.
“Nigeria must explore opportunities of the digital economy to ameliorate poverty,” he said.
