Kano Govt Partners PRNigeria on PR Trainings for Information Officers
The Kano State Government has expressed the desire to partner with PRNigeria Centre Kano, a subsidiary of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), to train their information officers in various ministries, agencies and 44 local government areas.
The state Commissioner for Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba, made this known on Wednesday when the founder of PRNigeria Centre, Mallam Yushau Shuaib, and his team paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
“I am so happy and highly impressed because I thought these are the type of centres that I needed especially for the training of our colleagues in the media industry, bearing in mind that the issue of technology has become a hot subject of discussion as far as journalism is concerned all over the world,” he said.
Mallam Garba assured the PRNigeria team of his willingness to work with them because information officers need training and re-training courses in order to catch up with modern skills and new initiatives in the field of public relations and journalism.
“I want to assure you as I said during your last visit, we are ready to partner with you at any point in time because communication as it is today especially in the issue of journalism and public relations, one needs a lot of training and re-training. There are a lot of modern skills, there are a lot of new initiatives as far as strategic communication is concerned in Nigeria and all over the world”, Garba said.
Mallam Garba also told the PRNigeria team that he will formally discuss the public relations training with the commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, to see how they can facilitate the training at the local government level too.
“I will formally discuss with the commissioner of local government because we have training funds at the level of local government, he is my very good colleague. I will discuss with him and see how we facilitate the training at the level of local government.
” In each of our 44 local government, we have information officers, assistant information officers and photographers. We will glad to host the training programmes in PRNigeria in batches, considering the digitalisation of your facilities.
We will work on the possibility of formally declaring the programme open soon”, Mallam Garba added.
Alhaji Yushau Shuaib, on his part, assured the Kano State Government of impactful training of their information officers whenever the opportunity is granted.
He listed the achievements and activities of PRNigeria Centre in Abuja and Kano in the areas of capacity building workshops, training of journalists, public relation officers, interns, among others.
