Journalists urged to deploy Tech tools to curb Fake News
Journalists have been charged to employ Information Technology Communication (ICT) tools to curb fake news.
The charge was given yesterday during the Google Data Skills for News training programme for about 600 journalists in Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) held at Ikeja, Lagos.
The Google News Lab Training Fellow, Africa, Kenneth Kiunga, said journalists must deploy Google tools to check for facts to counter the circulation of fake news intended to cause pandemonium in the society.
Kiunga urged journalists to use their instinct to discern false information through fact-checking with ICT tools.
The NUJ Lagos State Council Chairman, Adeleye Ajayi, said that the training would bring speed and accuracy into news production.
