Lagos NIPR celebrates female chief executives
The Chairman of Lagos Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Comfort Nwankwo, has congratulated the recently-appointed chief executives of Guaranty Trust Bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Fidelity Bank and Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), for breaking the corporate glass ceilings.
In her congratulatory message, Nwankwo described the appointments of the women as “music to the ears of women empowerment advocates across the country.”
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Executive of the Chapter, Samuel Adeyemi, the NIPR boss noted that the elevation of the women would inspire young women in the country, who feel marginalised and left behind to believe that there is no limit to what they can achieve in life if they work hard.
Nwankwo said: “On behalf of all communications professionals in Lagos, I would like to congratulate all these outstanding women, who have attained the peak of their banking profession despite the social, economic and political challenges against women.
“We believe that their elevation will further create a platform that will inspire more young women to know that the glass ceilings can be shattered irrespective of how daunting it might be.
“We at Lagos NIPR are always advancing the cause of women empowerment as espoused in our program, Strong Tender and Empowered Women Summit (STEWS), which is held annually to commemorate International Women’s Day.
“As these new captains in GTB, FCMB and LCCI join those of Fidelity Bank, SunTrust Bank, FSDH Merchant Bank, Unity Bank and Citibank to pilot the affairs of their organisations to the next level, we wish them a fruitful tenure,” she said.
