Oyo needs Security Summits to Resolve Challenges- NUJ tells Gov Makinde
Disturbed by the last Saturday night killings in Igangan, Oyo state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Tuesday advised Governor Seyi Makinde to without wasting time convene security summit in the state.
The union gave the advice in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan jointly signed by its chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola and secretary, Comrade Sola Oladapo.
Oyo NUJ in the statement stated that convocation of such security summit in Oyo state now will go a long way towards finding a lasting solution to the insecurity situation in the state.
Describing the Igangan killings as inhuman, cruel and barbaric, Oyo NUJ stated that the actions was avoidable if appropriate authorities evolve adequate measures and acts to time, on the intelligence information at their disposal.
Condemning the wanton killings in Igangan in Ibarapa North local government of the state, Oyo NUJ urged both the federal and state governments to put in place adequate measures aimed at forestalling the ugly trend.
The union maintained that residents in Ibarapaland and most parts of the state are living in palpable fears with the daily spike in bloodletting across the land.
