Attahiru: NUJ Borno condoles with FG, Military over COAS’s death
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Borno Council has condoled with the Federal Government and people of Nigeria over the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Attahiru Ibrahim and other officers, who died in the air crash that occurred on the 21 of May, 2021 at the Kaduna International Airport.
The Chairman of NUJ Borno Council, Bulama Talba, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Maiduguiri.
According to him, “The NUJ received the news with great shock and sadness owing to the fact that the late COAS was a pillar of support to the Union with whom we had cordial working relationship during his tenure and previous sojourn as Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole”.
“The Union shares in the great loss of this fine gentleman general who was indefatigable in patriotic service to our fatherland especially with his total commitment and stance to end the insurgency bedeviling Borno State and the North-East”.
“We also register our deep condolences to the Nigeria Armed forces and families of all the other officers and soldiers who lossed their lives in the air crash and various operations across the country which the citizens will never forget as all of them remain heroes of our time”.
“May God grant the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace and the family fortitude and courage to bear the national loss”. The statement said.
