State House Information Director, Stephen Attah retires at 60
Attained the 60-year statutory age of retirement, Stephen Attah, State House Deputy Director of Information, has exit the civil service today, Monday.
The official, who has been at the Presidential Villa for 25 years, serves nine Chief Press Secretaries, Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Special Advisers on Media and Publicity to six Heads of State and Presidents.
NAN reports that a send-off ceremony was organised in his honour.
The Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar, described Attah as an unassuming and noiseless performer.
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, recalled Attah’s transition to the position.
”When I was appointed, I reached out to former occupants of the office, including Segun Adeniyi. He told me if Mr (Justin) Abuah is still there, you will not have any problem.
“But sadly somewhere along the line, we lost Mr Abuah. Attah was no less efficient. He fitted perfectly into that position,” he said.
Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, called Attah an excellent editor and a very reliable person.
On behalf of the State House Press Corps, Sunday Odeh commended Attah for his humility and kindness.
In his remarks, Attah thanked his family. He also hailed the State House for the special recognition
I want to also specially appreciate my wife and family for bearing with me. In almost the 25 years I served here, this is the first time my wife is stepping into the State House.”
Attah is a Knight of John Wesley (KJW) in the Methodist Church Nigeria. The church delegation to the event was led by Bishop of Nyanya Diocese, Rt. Rev. Kehinde Adeyemi
