NIPR Commends NASPRI for Professionalism in PR Training
The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Mallam Mukhtar Zubairu Sirajo has commended the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) for its professional courses.
Mallam Sirajo made the commendation when he visited the PR school in Lagos.
He acknowledged the fact that
NASPRI as the foremost training institute for military Spokespersons in Sub-Saharan Africa is equipped with requisite facilities and highly intellectual faculty of instructors to deliver top-rate capacity building programmes.
The President also used the opportunity to commend the new service chiefs for appointing certified PR practitioners as the Spokespersons of various Divisions and units in the military.
He added that the visit to the school was to officially welcome and identify with the newly appointed Acting Commandant of the School, Colonel Aliyu Yusuf.
Sirajo described Colonel Yusuf as a dedicated senior officer who had shown commitment to professionalism as an active member of the Institute and assured him of support whenever the need arises.
Mallam Sirajo also addressed the newly inducted officers into the Institute who are currently undergoing Young Officers’ Course.
While responding, the acting Commandant of NASPRI, Colonel Aliyu Yusuf sought for collaborations with the Institute on the area of training as the school is making progress towards transforming into Monotechnic.
Colonel Yusuf said the school would continue to adopt modern approaches, strategies and techniques to Military Public Relations training which is hinged on innovative software and hardware, the new media, social media, technology-driven media devices and gadgets.
The president was accompanied by members of the governing council of NIPR.
NASPRI was established in April, 2010 with the vision of redefining Public Relations training and practice in the Nigerian Army. It injects added impetus into the theory and practice of Public Relations in the military, while also enhancing capacity of personnel, alongside providing a veritable platform and conducive environment for effective training and re-training of personnel from the Tri-services.
PRNigeria gathered that the school runs courses all year round on a quarterly basis. Some the courses offered at the militany training public relations institute include Information Operations, Media Operations, Crisis Communication and Management, Strategic Communication, Graphics, Design and Printing, Photography and Video camera operations, News Writing and Reporting, amongst others.
