Zamfara NUJ Pledges support for Govt, Security Operatives over Abducted Schoolgirls
The Zamfara State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) have expressed shock over the recent abducton of over 300 female students of Government Science School, Jangebe.
In a statement by the Council Chairman, Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, Friday and obtained by newsmen, the union pledged full support and cooperation to the Zamfara State government and security agencies in the state, in an effort to rescue the abducted students.
The statement said, “the Nigeria Union of Journalists Zamfara State Council has in the early hours of Friday, February 26, 2021, received with shock, the news of the abduction of over 300 female students by the armed bandits at Government Girls Secondary School Jangebe of Talata Mafara Local Government Area of the State.
The abduction of the students came to the union establishing a nostalgic situation as the state is celebrating the repentance of some bandits from diverse locations of the state through the Peace Initiative of the state government.
The State NUJ reaffirms its commitment to professional and patriotic reporting of issues towards the attainment of a lasting solution for the state against the menaces of banditry and other criminal activities that have arrested accelerated socio-economic development of the State and Northern Region.”
Recall that the Zamfara State Government has confirmed the abduction of schoolgirls from a secondary school in the state.
Following the development, ordered the closure of all boarding Secondary Schools in the State.
Governor Bello Matawalle also assured of his administration’s commitment to ensuring speedy rescue of the abducted 317 girls from Government Science School, Jangebe.
