Lagos NIPR Holds First Virtual PR Clinic
The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations made history by hosting the first virtual PR Clinic, themed: Technology and the Future of Work, to prepare participants with the skill sets required to thrive in a fast-changing practice environment on Thursday April 16, 2020.
The virtual clinic, featuring the Chief Executive Officer, WOWBii Interactive, Terae Onyeje, as the guest facilitator, was the first in the history of the Institute, in compliance with the lockdown, social distancing and sit at home directives by the government to keep people safe and stop the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In her presentation, Terae Onyeje said that collaboration is the future of work and challenged participants to keep pace with technological advancements revolutionizing the workplace. She held that employers willing to have a productive culture of working remotely must create new policies with clearly set deliverables and mechanism for checks and balances. She added that practitioners should embrace the war room mentality in response to the fast-changing world.
The Chairman of the Lagos NIPR, Olusegun McMedal, said that, “We are living in a different and very challenging time and the current restriction is altering business and work models for almost all the industry and professions. Everyone must evolve and adapt to the new work environment by unlearning and relearning the new skill sets required to survive in the fast-changing world. The Chapter will organise more virtual Clinics to sharpen the competitive edge of our members”.
Public relations practitioners from private and public sectors in Lagos took part in the virtual clinic learning how technology is impacting the future of work. This edition of the Clinic was held in partnership with WOWBii Interactive, facilitated by Modion Communications.
The Lagos PR Clinic is a major part of the monthly general meeting of the Chapter to develop and sharpen the skillsets of our members to be better informed, work smarter and train their teammates. It has featured notable speakers over the years and has become a rich resource for communications practitioners and the media.
