NITDA Expresses Readiness to Host E-Nigeria Conference
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has expressed readiness to host the 12th edition of the e-Nigeria International Conference, Exhibitions and Awards successfully.
The Information Communication Technology-oriented event will serve as a platform for ICT awareness creation, development of appropriate regulatory instruments and best practices, in order to facilitate the positioning of Nigeria in the global information society as a digital economy.
The conference tagged: “Achieving a National Digital Economy,” is slated for Thursday, 28th November 2019. at the International Conference Center in Abuja.
The Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations of NITDA, Mrs. Hadiza Umar, noted that this year’s event is business-centered, opportunity-identifying and investment-seeking event aimed at changing the landscape of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), as well as recognizing excellence in various fields of human endeavour.
She added that the initiative is aimed at advancing and utilizing home-made technologies to proffer solutions to some of the country’s challenges, in a bid to make Nigeria’s ICT sector a robust digital economy in the global information society.
“The agency, under the charismatic stewardship of our visionary and pragmatic Director General, Mr. Kashifu Abdullahi, is putting relentless effort towards using innovative technologies to make the country not only reactive, but proactive in addressing the challenges, while also developing our indigenous information and communication technologies. This, and other effective policy-actions are geared towards making Nigeria a leading force in Africa in terms of digitalization.
“It is our fervent belief that during the Conference, renowned ICT experts will help to review the Nigerian digital economy policy and strategy draft. Also, they will cross-fertilize ideas with one another in order to create a dynamic digital ecosystem for sustainable digital economic growth. Likewise, the Conference indeed will be a veritable platform where new digital job opportunities will be provided through developmental regulations. And then, we hope to advance and develop quality infrastructure for digital economy in this era of fourth industrial revolution,” she said.
Mrs. Umar explained that it is part of NITDA’s cardinal plan to achieve national security, help drive the anti-corruption campaign, and advocate sustainable energy systems, among other strategic developmental programmes.
The event is hosted in collaboration with relevant stakeholders from both the public, and private sectors, together with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and eminent persons from the academia.
The e-Nigeria Conference will be graced by President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy; Ms. Funke Okpeke, Founder and CEO of MAINONE, and Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of the National Communication Commission, among other distinguished guests.
