Awards: NIPR Honors MAN President, Others
National Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, has awarded the Group Executive Director of Dangote Group, and President Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Engr. Mansur Ahmed for his immense contributions to Industrial Development in the country.
Kaduna state chapter of NIPR presented the special award to the GED, as “Champion of Industrial Development” for providing enabling environment for industrial activities to thrive, particularly Northern Nigeria during the 2019 AGM/Public lecture/Award ceremony on Saturday.
Mansur ensured his commitment to the promotion of National manufacturer’s collective interests for economic growth. He urged Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA.
“with the effort being made by stakeholders to identify the risks and develop mitigation actions to protect the nation’s economy, the Country stands to benefit greatly from AfCFTA. Therefore, there is need for NIPR, and other organisations to organise a full fledge conference on the matter for better understanding of the public” He said.
Adding that, the Presidential Steering Committee on the AfCFTA Impact and Readiness Assessment Committee was inaugurated on October 22, 2018, with the mandate to assess the extent to which Nigeria was ready to join the agreement, and the impact of so doing.
Alhaji Saidu Dattijo Adhama, the Guest Speaker, and Chairman of Adhama Textiles & Garment Industries, called for the reconstruction of the collapsed industries in the country particularly that of textile.
“there is plethora of challenges in the country ranging from lack of industries in the country and collapse of the existing ones. It is important that government and other authorities take the necessary steps in addressing the plethora of challenges in the nation’s economy” Adahama said.
The chairman NIPR, Kaduna chapter, Mr. Bashir Chedi said the appalling state of the nation’s industries in the region calls for immediate intervention by the federal government to revitalize the sector.
“it is the role of NIPR to conduct strategic environmental scanning with a view to identify issues, analyze trends, predict their consequences, counsel organizational leaders and also implement programmes of actions that will serve public interest” He said.
Other recipients of the awards are, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman, and the ministerial nominee, Engr. Suleiman Hussaini Adamu, as a result of their contributions to the country.
