Adamawa NIPR Drives PR Excellence, Tackle Quackery
The Adamawa State chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has taken a significant step to enhance professionalism and combat quackery in the Public Relations practice.
The chapter has established a mechanism to promote professionalism in PR matters in Adamawa State.
The Chairman of Chapter, Mr Usman Ahmad Dada said this mechanism will involve providing training and development opportunities for PR practitioners, raising awareness of the importance of public relations among government bodies, businesses, and the general public, and working to identify and remove non-professionals from the PR circle.
He disclosed this during it’s 2023 congress meeting in Yola Adamawa State capital on 25th November.
“Aligning with the doggedness of the new leadership of the NIPR at the national level the state chapter discussed on membership drive and how to insist on professionalism in the practice of PR which they all agree is a very vital part of the society.
“In order to remove non-professionals and quacks from the PR circle in Adamawa State, the chapter calls on the government bodies and MDAs to ensure that their Public Relations handlers are dully registered with the NIPR in the state”, he said.
Dada said the Congress also discussed the intention of the national PR body to publish the second edition of the Register of Public Relations Practitioners in Nigeria which will be circulated on the official website of the institute for public viewing and circulated widely to employers and the general public with the view to identifying genuine PR Practitioners in Nigeria.
“We also agreed to conclude plans to celebrate and recognize some of its members who have been elevated in the society in their various endeavours”, he said.
