Gidado Shuaib Joins Baze University as Digital Communications Specialist

A media entrepreneur, Gidado Yushau Shuaib, has joined Baze University Abuja as its digital communications specialist.

The University Deputy Vice-Chancellor IT, Research and Innovation (ITRI), Dr Rislan Kanya, said the coming on board of Gidado is in line with the university’s philosophy to continually expand its media reach, and foster a positive relationship with the public.

He said the young media entrepreneur will help the ITRI office drive its strategic research and innovation activities, as well as manage all digital media communications in the university.

According to Kanya, Mr. Gidado will be supervising Baze University’s social media engagement, search engine optimisation, managing online visibility, metrics, and ranking, as well as content development and digital image enhancement.

Gidado, until his appointment in Baze University, was the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of News Digest Nigeria, an online news outlet, run by a team of fast-rising journalists.

As a charismatic youth advocate, Gidado’s vision is to encourage and empower young Nigerians to achieve their career dreams.

To this end, he convened the annual Campus Journalism Awards, CJA, an event that celebrates budding journalists and writers on Nigerian campuses.

Gidado, also, headed the media and communications directorate of the campaign organisation of Mallam Saliu Mustapha, the Senator-Elect for Kwara Central Senatorial District.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Baze University, Abuja, and a Master’s degree in Media, Campaigning, and Social Change from the University of Westminster, London.

He is an associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

The News Digest Publisher had worked with various media organizations, including BBC London, Premium Times, and Daily Trust Newspaper, and is a consultant to the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC).
