Security Matters: Nigerian Navy Hails PRNigeria for Professionalism, Responsible Reportage
The Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Vice admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, has expressed delight over PRNigeria’s ‘dispassionate reportage’ on the Nigerian military and the security sector, in extension.
According to Gambo, PRNigeria has consistently remained the Number One news agency and go-to for credible media stories on the activities of military and other security services.
He made this known through the spokesperson of the Nigerian Navy, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, who led staff of the Naval Information Directorate on a familiarization visit, to the Abuja Office of PRNigeria.
He said: “PRNigeria has carved a niche for itself in terms of factual and credible news on security matters, and the Nigerian military in particular.
“PRNigeria is a reputable platform that one can rely on to get authoritative information and analyses on the country’s security sector.”
Pointing out that the Nigerian Navy appreciates what PRNigeria is doing, the Naval spokesperson therefore said that there is a need to nurture the existing relationship between their service and PRNigeria.
“This is imperative to help tackle fake news and misinformation about the Navy and the Nigerian military, in general,” said Ayo-Vaughan.
While receiving his guests, Mal. Yushau Shuaib, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, published by the Image Merchants Promotion (IMPR) Limited, thanked the Naval spokesperson and his entourage for the courtesy call.
Commending the visionary leadership of Admiral Gambo as the Chief of Naval Staff, Shuaib said: “Despite the menace of oil theft, the Navy under Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, has recorded amazing feats in tackling oil vandals, sea pirates and other economic saboteurs in the South South and South West.
“Again, Vice Admiral Gambo has embarked on an infrastructural upgrade of military barracks, schools and other Naval facilities, across the country, since he came on board.
“The Navy, under Gambo, has also been providing sophisticated warfare equipment and Naval ships to boost Nigeria’s maritime security.
“We are glad to also know that Vice Admiral Gambo has also visited some European and world nations and signed agreements on military support and cooperation for the Nigerian Navy.
“Above all, we have seen the laudable initiatives and policies his administration has been unveiling towards making the Nigerian Navy a responsive military institution”.
In a goodwill remark, Major General Chris Olukolade (rtd), a former Director of Defence Information, DDI, who was around during the engagement, expressed belief that the collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and PRNigeria is one that will be mutually-beneficial to both organisations.
